AMERICANS ONLY: Getting the Foreign Grantor EIN Number for your Trust & Unincorporated Association
Explore here IRS instructions to their Agents setting up EIN’s for people. This will help you innerstand their administrational world of EINs. Specifically you can see How an EIN is Assigned – section 2 & 3. A dash 6 or 7 after it represents a Trust or non-profit (ie. Unincorporated Association) / Tax Exempt entities. https://www.irs.gov/irm/part21/irm_21-007-013r#idm140344797646672
Lastly, you may receive a notice from the IRS confirming your account. You will need this for the bank appointment. AND they may ask you to respond within a certain amount of time.
Here is a letter we share that you can customize to communicate back to them that these accounts are tax exempt.
